The problem
The payment integration worked on a good day. On a bad day a customer was charged and the order never appeared, and there was no record to tell the two apart. Editing a product bundle could silently switch off its own free-delivery setting.
What we did
- 01
Audited the full payment path and closed ten defects, four of which could break or endanger live transactions
- 02
Rebuilt the gateway callback handling so a payment result is always recorded, even when the customer closes the tab
- 03
Traced and fixed a data bug where saving any bundle silently wiped its delivery configuration
- 04
Added configurable product attributes so marketing copy stops being hardcoded in the template
- 05
Grew the test suite from 4 tests to over 100 across pricing, orders and checkout
Outcome
10
payment defects closed, four of them live risks
4 → 113
automated tests, before and after
